How to Play Number Match
Clear the board by selecting pairs of equal numbers, such as 4 and 4, or pairs that add up to ten, such as 3 and 7. Both numbers must still be on the board. Select the first number, then the second; a valid pair disappears and its spaces remain empty.
A pair must also have a clear connection. The numbers may be next to each other in reading order, with no live numbers between them, or in the same column with only cleared cells between them. Reading order runs left to right, then continues at the start of the next row. Diagonal alignment alone does not provide a connection.
Easy begins with 18 numbers, Normal with 36 and Hard with 54. Each starting board is generated with a clearing path, but your choice of pairs can affect the remaining moves. You can take your time, change a selection, request a hint or undo the last cleared pair.
Pair Examples and Add Numbers
In a row containing 3, empty, empty, 7, the 3 and 7 form a valid pair because their sum is ten and the spaces between them are clear. In 3, 5, 7, they cannot be paired across the 5. Two 6s can clear each other when they have a valid connection, even though their sum is twelve.
The final live number in one row and the first live number in the next row can form a reading-order pair when they are equal or total ten. Two matching values in one column can also be paired across cleared cells. Look for these connections after removing nearby numbers.
Hint marks an available pair without removing it. If no pair is available, Add numbers copies all remaining live numbers to the end of the board. You have up to three additions per game, and the board has a maximum size of 180 cells. Undo restores the last pair or addition. If you run out of useful moves and additions, restart or begin a new practice board.
Daily Boards and Personal Records
Daily provides the same starting board for a difficulty and UTC date. Practice gives unlimited new boards through New game. Your current board, used additions and playing time are saved in this browser, and returning to a mode and difficulty resumes its saved game.
Clear every number to complete the puzzle. Daily completions build a streak. Hints and undo actions are shown in the result, and the fastest-time record includes only completions without those aids. The timer pauses when the tab is hidden; there is no time limit.
Use touch, a mouse or the keyboard. Arrow keys move through live cells. Enter or Space selects a focused number. Tab reaches Hint, Undo and Add numbers. To search for a different calculator or game, use the main search bar after the play section.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does every pair that totals ten work?
No. The numbers must also be connected through a clear column or consecutive live positions in reading order. Numbers obstructed by another live value cannot form that pair.
What does Add numbers do?
It copies the remaining live numbers to the end in their current order. It does not generate unrelated random values. You can add up to three times, subject to the board size limit.
Can I resume tomorrow?
Practice resumes its saved board in this browser. Daily starts a new board on the next UTC date. Completed daily dates remain in your streak history.
