How to Play Daily Number Groups

Sixteen number tiles contain four intended groups of four. Select four numbers that share a mathematical property, then press Submit group. A correct set moves into a labelled row and reveals why the numbers belong together. Find all four groups to finish.

Groups may contain prime numbers, perfect squares, cubes, multiples, palindromes or triangular numbers. Easy displays the four category names before you start. Normal hides the names. Hard also includes at least two of the more advanced cube, palindrome or triangular-number categories.

You have four incorrect submissions. Selecting fewer than four numbers does not use an attempt. A set containing three numbers from one intended answer gets a One away message. Deselect individual tiles or use Clear, and use Shuffle to change the order without changing the puzzle. Hint reveals a remaining category and marks the result as assisted.

Recognise Number Properties

The numbers 11, 17, 23 and 29 are prime: each has only two positive divisors, 1 and itself. The numbers 9, 16, 36 and 81 are perfect squares because they equal 3², 4², 6² and 9². Cubes such as 8, 27, 64 and 125 equal 2³, 3³, 4³ and 5³.

A three-digit palindrome, such as 202 or 505, reads the same forwards and backwards. A triangular number is a sum starting at one: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15, so 15 is triangular. Multiples of 11 include 22, 33 and 44; multiples of 50 include 50, 150 and 200.

A collection of numbers can share many general features, such as being odd or positive. Your goal is to find the four categories chosen for this puzzle. The generator checks that each chosen category fits exactly its own four tiles, so the intended groups do not overlap. Category hints can help when a broad property looks plausible but is not one of those intended answers.

A New Daily Puzzle and Unlimited Practice

Daily changes at midnight UTC. Everyone choosing the same difficulty on the same date sees the same sixteen numbers and answers, even after shuffling. Practice creates another puzzle when you press New game. Your daily progress and your practice game are saved separately for each difficulty.

Selections, solved groups, remaining attempts and active playing time are saved in this browser. The timer starts with interaction and pauses when the tab is hidden. Solving a daily puzzle earns a streak day, including assisted completions. Your fastest-time record uses completed puzzles without hints.

After four incorrect submissions, the answer panel explains all four groups. You can review the categories, restart the daily puzzle or try a new practice game. This is an original number-category game for OfficeCalculator.Net. Its puzzles use mathematical properties rather than a vocabulary quiz.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these the same puzzles as a word-grouping game?

No. These puzzles are generated from number properties, with original sets, explanations and daily seeds.

Does a hint use one of my four attempts?

No. A hint records assistance but does not reduce attempts. Only an incorrect four-number submission uses an attempt.

How do I play with a keyboard?

Arrow keys move through the tiles; Enter or Space selects a tile. Tab moves to the group controls. Submit group checks your four selections. Escape clears the selection.
