How to use the equation solver

Type an equation such as 3x + 2 = 14. The solver moves terms into standard form, identifies the equation type, calculates the answer, and displays a checkable sequence of steps. Multiplication signs are optional in common algebra notation, so both 3*x and 3x are accepted.

Supported notation
