How to play Ratio Mixer

Study the ratio of the ingredients and the required overall total. Divide the total by the sum of the ratio parts to find the multiplier. Multiply each ratio part by that factor and enter the amount of each ingredient.

The mathematics behind the game

If A:B = 2:3 and there are 25 units in total, the sum of parts is 5 and the multiplier is 25/5 = 5. The individual shares are 2 × 5 = 10 and 3 × 5 = 15.

Worked example

To prepare 42 units in a 2:5 ratio, add the ratio parts 2+5=7. Each part is 42/7=6, so use 12 units of the first ingredient and 30 of the second.

Tips to improve

Try Easy first to learn the steps without a timer. Move to Normal and Hard for larger numbers and more tasks. If you make a mistake, use Undo to reconsider the last move. A hint gives useful guidance but does not set an unaided personal best. Daily challenges offer the same seeded puzzle each UTC day on this device.

Frequently asked questions

What if a ratio has three ingredients?

Add all three ratio parts, divide the total by their sum, then multiply each part by that number.

Can the ingredient amounts be unequal?

Yes. The quantities must preserve the given ratio and together add to the specified total.
