How This Dimension Calculator Works

Enter length, width and height in the same unit. Volume is length × width × height. The calculator also shows rectangular surface area and base area, then lets you change all dimensions or one selected dimension.

Core formulas: Volume = L × W × H; Surface area = 2(LW + LH + WH); Base area = L × W.

How to Use It

  1. Enter the values requested in the calculator workspace.
  2. Select Calculate and correct any input highlighted by validation.
  3. Review the main answer, supporting figures and formula/method shown with the result.
  4. Use Copy Result, Share Result or Save Result Image if you need to keep the calculation.

Worked Example

For 10 cm × 5 cm × 3 cm, volume is 150 cm³, surface area is 190 cm², and base area is 50 cm². If every dimension increases by 20%, the new dimensions are 12 × 6 × 3.6 cm and volume rises by 72.8%.

Common Uses

  • Boxes, rooms, containers and rectangular objects
  • Volume and surface-area planning
  • Scaling physical dimensions proportionally
  • Checking how dimension changes affect volume

Common Search Questions About Dimension Calculator

How do I calculate dimensions and volume?

Enter length, width and height in the same unit. The calculator multiplies the three dimensions for volume and also shows surface area and base area.

How do I increase all dimensions by a percentage?

Choose Percentage, enter a positive or negative percentage, and apply the change to All dimensions. Each dimension changes by that percentage, while volume changes by the product of the three scale factors.

Can I change only one dimension?

Yes. Select Length only, Width only or Height only before applying a percentage, fixed amount or scale factor.

Important Limitations

Results are estimates based only on the values entered. Verify important decisions against the relevant source records, rules or professional guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the calculator upload my inputs?

No. The calculation runs in the browser and does not require an account.

Can I calculate again with different values?

Yes. Change any input and calculate again to compare scenarios.

Should I verify important results?

Yes. For high-impact financial, legal, health, engineering or contractual decisions, compare calculator output with current source information and appropriate professional guidance.
