How to play Decimal Point Repair
Each row shows two decimal numbers being multiplied and all the correct digits of the answer without a decimal point. Tap the gap where the point belongs. Check every repaired multiplication before finishing.
The mathematics behind the game
To multiply two decimals, first multiply their digits as whole numbers. Count the number of digits after the decimal in both factors and give the product that many decimal places.
Worked example
2.4 × 1.5 gives whole-number digits 24 × 15 = 360. With one decimal place in each factor, the answer has two decimal places: 3.60.
Tips to improve
Try Easy first to learn the steps without a timer. Move to Normal and Hard for larger numbers and more tasks. If you make a mistake, use Undo to reconsider the last move. A hint gives useful guidance but does not set an unaided personal best. Daily challenges offer the same seeded puzzle each UTC day on this device.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I count decimal places in both numbers?
Multiplying tenths by tenths produces hundredths, so the two decimal-place counts must be added.
Can a repaired result end in zero?
Yes. Decimal notation such as 3.60 is numerically equal to 3.6, but the digits in the puzzle are intentionally preserved.
