Sum Calculator Built Like an Adding Machine
This page is designed for repetitive office addition rather than forcing you to fill twenty separate fields. Enter a number, press Add +, and the value is committed to the paper tape. Use Subtract − for refunds, deductions, corrections or negative adjustments. The running total updates after every entry, while the tape preserves the sequence so you can audit what was added. If you spot a wrong amount, select Edit on that tape line, enter the corrected value and save it; all following running totals are recalculated automatically. You can also remove an accidental line without rebuilding the complete calculation.
The 0 and 00 keys make larger amounts faster to enter. CE clears only the number currently being typed, C starts a fresh tape, Undo removes the most recent committed entry, and Total = saves the current total to your recent browser history.
Paste Numbers from Excel, Sheets or a Document
For longer lists, open Paste Numbers and paste values copied from a spreadsheet column, invoice, message or text document. The parser recognizes ordinary positive and negative numbers and common thousands separators. This is useful for invoice lines, expenses, receipts, deposits, cash counts and quick spreadsheet cross-checks.
Example: add 1,250, 380.50 and 2,100, then subtract 45. The paper tape ends at 3,685.50 and keeps each step visible.
When an Adding Machine Is Better Than a Basic Calculator
A regular four-function calculator is convenient for a short expression, but an adding machine is easier when you are processing a sequence of amounts and need a visible audit trail. The paper tape lets you compare each entered value with a receipt, invoice, bank statement or handwritten list without rebuilding the entire calculation if one item is wrong.
The recent saved totals are stored locally in your browser. They are intended as a convenience history, not permanent accounting records, so copy important tapes into your own document or system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit a wrong amount after adding it?
Yes. Select Edit beside the incorrect paper-tape line, change the value and save it. The calculator recomputes the running total for that line and every line after it.
Can I paste a list of numbers into the sum calculator?
Yes. Open Paste Numbers, paste the list, then select Add Pasted Numbers.
Can I subtract values?
Yes. Enter the amount and press Subtract −. Negative values pasted into the list are also treated as deductions.
What is the difference between CE and C?
CE clears the current uncommitted entry. C clears the complete current tape and resets its running total.
Does history leave my browser?
No. The calculator runs in the browser, and saved totals use local browser storage on the device.
