Formula and Calculation Method

Worked Example
Dissolving 0.5 mol of solute to make a final solution volume of 1 L gives a concentration of 0.5 M. In mass mode, 29.22 g of a 58.44 g/mol substance also equals 0.5 mol, so the same 1 L final volume produces 0.5 M.

How to Interpret the Result
Molarity uses the final solution volume, not simply the volume of solvent added before mixing. Temperature can change liquid volume, so high-precision laboratory work may require temperature-controlled volumetric glassware.
