How to play Logarithm Lock
Read the logarithmic equation and enter the unknown value to unlock the round. Easy levels find an exponent, normal levels find a positive argument, and hard levels undo a shift before applying the exponential form.
Worked example
log₂(32) = 5 because 2⁵ = 32. If log₂(x) + 1 = 6, then log₂(x) = 5, giving x = 32.
Math formulas and key skills
log_b(N) = y means bʸ = N. A valid real logarithm has b > 0, b ≠ 1, and N > 0.
Avoid common mistakes
Do not multiply the base by the exponent. Raise the base to the exponent, and keep the logarithm argument positive.
Frequently asked questions
How do you turn a logarithm into a power?
Use log_b(N) = y ⇔ bʸ = N.
Can a logarithm have zero as its argument?
No. Real logarithms require a strictly positive argument.
